Our History

Simpson's was originally a family owned Wind Screen business based in San Francisco, however during the the mid-1950s Barclay Simpson launched the business that would become a world leader in it's industry. And it all began with a visit from his neighbour who asked if he could make some structural connectors for the ends of 2x4s for a flat roof. Barclay said yes and then set about finding a way to do it.

It was that request for a joist hanger that led to the creation of Simpson Strong-Tie, a global company with more than 2,000 employees, operating 18 manufacturing plants around the World.

Simpson Strong-Tie first came to the UK during the 1980's and brought the Simpson formula along - with safety and innovation at the top of it's agenda. In 1996 we took up residence at the 78,000sq. ft. facility that we call home today.
