If you can install a loft floor on day one of the conversion, you must be using the I-Loft system already.
I-loft is built around the JES
(Joist End Support) - a revolutionary steel connector which allows the modification of timber I-joists to fit into the eaves of the roof. I-joists are light and easy to handle - you don't need a heavy crane to get them into place, you can do that easily enough with man-power alone. However they are also strong enough to span a loft space without the need for a supporting steel girder.
No steels means no cranes, no intrusive holes through the side of the house and a lot less waiting around.
There are beneifts for the home-owner too. There's no need to engage solicitors to draw up a Party Wall Agreement as beams do not penetrate neighbouring walls and the home is not exposed to the elements as the beams can be installed via the removal ofa few rows of roof tiles. You even get more storage space! |
