The MJC from Simpson Strong-Tie allows two open-web joists to be connected together to act as a single unit.

The benefit of the MJC is that is trasfers the incoming load from the loaded ply to the unloaded ply.

This simpe and effective design is universal in size and can therefore be used with any joist - regardless of it's height or width.

Position the MJC's onto the first I-Joist - ensuring that they are centred about the incoming load at 400 c/c (may be adjusted 10mm either way).

Position the MJC's onto the first open-web joist - ensuring that they are centred about the incoming load at 400 c/c (may be adjusted 10mm either way). Ensure face nails are inserted into the loaded ply (see below).

Ensure face nails are inserted into the loaded ply.


Position the second joist, ensuring that the ends are flush and the joists are parallel. Secure the joist using 2 no. 3.75 x 30mm square twist nails per MJC into the top and bottom joist flanges.

N.B. Higher load applications may require additional MJC's to be installed, please refer to the joist layout.
