The JES (I-Loft) solution for loft conversions, now listed as an LABC registered solution.
Simpson Strong Tie has announced the news that its latest steel connector – the JES (Joist End Support) - has been received "registered solution" status by the LABC (local authority building control), strengthening the company’s impressive portfolio of revolutionary I-Loft Suite products.

Allowing the modification of I-joists to fit into the eaves of the roof via its two piece metal-work system, the JES enables the use of engineered timber I-Joists in loft conversions. This offers a safe and economic alternative to the traditional and often costly method which requires steel girders.
Each individual JES now has the LABC’s stamp of approval on it, giving the connector huge credibility amongst loft conversion professionals and adds to the long list of benefits associated with the product – including speed and safety in terms of its installation process.
Chris Sanders, Marketing Manager at Simpson Strong Tie, said: “The LABC approval is great news for Simpson as it carries real weight within the construction industry. It also means that we take advantage of the LABC’s own internal communication network – which guarantees that every Building Inspector will recognise the JES on site – we took this route to ensure that the installer would be comfortable with something which is still a radical concept”.
