July 3, 2014
A seven-storey apartment block on a flagship site in central London has become the first major housing development worldwide to achieve PEFC Project Certification.
To achieve this, a building has to use a minimum of 70% PEFC-certified material, with the rest from approved controlled sources.
Main contractor Willmott Dixon used prefabricated structural CLT (cross laminated timber) panels from supplied by KLH UK, which included performance tested brackets and fixings from the SImpson Strong-Tie range. Kingsgate House is actually 96.5% PEFC timber.
Simpson Strong-Tie produced used include:
- AKR, E and ABR reinforced brackets.
- CSA and ESCR structural screws.
- CNA nails.
