Do What You Can Day
December 13, 2018
On a thankfully dry November morning...
... a team of volunteers from Tamworth based company Simpson Strong-Tie, arrived at dog re-homing charity “Dun-Roamin’” in nearby Atherstone, to help re-vamp its facilities.
The story actually began several weeks before, with various departments of Simpson Strong-Tie working together to design and manufacture a unique suite of metal-work solutions to help improve the comfort and security of the nine dogs currently waiting for new owners.
Operations Manager Russ Stringer, who brought Dun-Roamin’ to the company’s attention explains: “Every year, people from Simpson plants around the world choose a local cause that can benefit from some practical help – that means people rolling up their sleeves. I guess we have a lot of ‘dog people’ – we were swamped with volunteers willing to give up some of their time”.
During a day of bustling activity, the team built roofing, assembled new storage facilities, upgraded the kennels to make them more homely and even gave the walls a lick of paint. Dun-roamin’ founder Ian Webb praised the teams efforts: “We are massively grateful for the help, it means a great deal to us and I know our guests are going to appreciate it too”.
