Top Chord Hung I-Joist Hanger

The TCHI is a hanger designed to support a modified I-joist end (Top Chord Hung detail), which aids the design, manufacture and installation of loose joists, or of cassette floors, on site.

Features

Benefits

The TCHI has been tested to accommodate for a gap of up to 15mm between the end of the I-Joist and the supporting structure.
Install with CSA screws to avois splitting the I-Joist flanges
Added seat stiffener provides strength and acts as a positioner for the end of the cut I Joist.
To aid installation for the customer the TCHI has been designed to be light weight.
If necessary, the TCHI can be installed after the I-Joists have been positioned onto the supporting member

Installation

Installation Sequence

Step 1 - Cut the end of the I Joist so that the top chord overhang [1] is a minimum of 50mm

Step 2 - Fix the TCHI to the joist using 10 No. of CSA 4.0x30mm screws. The end of the joist should be tight against the seat stiffener of the hanger, and the hanger should be plumb on the I-Joist end

Step 3 - Install the modified joist into its intended position. Maximum gap [2] between the end of the joist and the supporting member is 15mm. Minimum bearing [3] onto the supporting member is 35mm

Step 4 - Blocking pieces may be installed on top of the supporting member , in-between the I-Joist flanges, to give a level finish
